In the official music video for their video "Friday I'm In Love", Robert Smith and The Cure perform in front of backdrops painted as homages to the films of Georges Méliès. “That was an accident,” Smith admitted to Drummer, keyboardist and founding member Laurence “Lol” Tolhurst’s status in the band began to slip in the mid-Eighties due to his increasingly worsening substance abuse problems, and by the time the Cure released “Friday I’m in Love” is awash with glistening, Byrds-like guitars and features an ultra-trebly lead on the break.





The Cure are a rock band which formed in 1976 in Crawley, England, United Kingdom. The music video was directed by Tim Pope and according to him was shot in just two hours.

The band originally consisted of Robert Smith (vocals, guitar), Porl Thompson (guitar), Michael Dempsey (bass) and Lol Tolhurst (drums), with the band's lineup overgoing several changes throughout the years and Smith remaining as the only constant member throughout the band's history.
