If I am in a CV and see a Kii, specially an AA spec one, I wouldn't even fly near it. [BYOB] This theoretically blocks anyone from getting citadels on the ship through the bow or stern. The citadel’s athwartships are 240 mm thick for the upper part and 38 mm for the lower part. But she is a real fun ship - in a way more so than Kii.
The Scharnhorst has the fast reload, the Lyon has the 16 guns broadside and the King George V-class have the crazy HE and fast reload for the King George V itself. The Poltava just has nothing to compensate for that weakness, not even her dispersion. While they have the standard 5.0 km range, these secondaries are actually quite good since the ship basically has a Khabarovsk strapped on each side. The anti-air of the Poltava is actually relatively good. I tend to use my Arpeggio ships for training. Duguay-Trouin (Moved a 10 pointer there to my reserve for the coming BB line.
If you want a tier VII battleship, pretty much any of the available premiums would be more interesting than her in my opinion. The health pool is on the lower end of the spectrum with only 59 100 HP, only above the Lyon, Gneisenau, Scharnhorst and the California when she will be released. 4 Italian 10pointers. 16. But she is a real fun ship - in a way more so than Kii. I am not sure exactly the correct tactic but I combine ships that are fun and what is enjoyable. And producing EliteXP can be used for every country/tree. As said - I love her but recommending her is a stretch to be perfectly honest. I had my first 19 point captain a few months ago (Seagal) and now I have one in Missouri/Montana, indianapolis/Des Moines, Anshan/Hsienyang, Kutuzov/Chapayev, Kamikaze/Shimakaze, Musashi/Yamato, Atago/Zao, Prinz Eugen/Hindenburg, Scharnhorst/Kurfurst and Z-52. I don't think the tier level makes a difference here, so the lowest tier ship should be the cheapest. I tend to use my Arpeggio ships for training. A premium that does not suit you wil not be fun or effective to play. No, what I asked for was a subjective comparison of the Nagato A hull (Mutsu), Amagi A hull (Ashitaka), and the Kii. That is the least helpful post in this topic. From a trainer perspective KII is the best simply because she is T8 and earns the most XP due to this fact. Assign all that free commander XP to the captain of your choice. The bow and the stern are 25 mm thick like any tier VII battleship. I have started down the RN BB line, and am looking to get a ship to function as a captain trainer. And those aren't fun to play.
I enjoy Musashi as much as I enjoy Hindenburg or Shima and I don't necessarily want all my ships to play exactly the same way. Maybe it doesn't belong here but I don't know if there are dedicated threads for particular ships and I can always relocate this.
I gotten Mutsu from a crate earlier today, looked up some how-to-plays and do some reading, I needed a captain trainer because I have very few captains with 10 skill points or more and more are needed in the higher tiers (especially when playing DD or else all enemy DDs outspot you always). Ashitaka - will not bother with due to extremely poor reputation. PS: Be wary of the Musashi, for all its strengths it's a high tier camper. To illustrate, your response is like ordering a pizza at a McDonalds, won't work. Of course, it isn’t the first time that we have that at tier VII. She doesn’t have the firepower that you would expect of a tier VII battleship but she does compensate it for amazing concealment and also strong armor protection. By such, she cannot overmatch 25 mm platings. She has a strong long-range and the mid-range is not bad either. When it comes to speed, the ship is not bad at all with a 29 knots top speed. There is a cartoonish camo available though which boosts the gained XP. As said - I love her but recommending her is a stretch to be perfectly honest.
In my first post I have not asked for the best way to retrain captains. During the testing of the Poltava, I used the following captain build and upgrades: Captain build: Mutsu, though I have very few games in her is a disappointment, she is not fun, I rather play Nagato. I also wouldn't sink 900k+ Free XP into a Musashi. As you can see, the citadel has the classic Soviet T shape with the lower part being protected by a spaced armor configuration and the upper part being exposed above the waterline. Is the Poltava a good ship? I do not own the Ashitaka, but all of the opinions I heard about it were bad, so caveat emptor. Ishizuchi is ok for its tier as well (better then Myogi) but its tier is so low that you don't get as much XP. The gun accuracy is fine but if you have played the Amagi do you know that moment when you take a big 20k strike from long range? Up to roughly tier 6 I grow coming 10 pointers on, then by the relocation fee with Elite XP.
